Located on the Federal Highway at the rest area dedicated to Wing Air Vice Marshal Hughie Edwards VC, who was a highly decorated World War II airman , and later Governor of Western Australia, this monument pays reverence and homage to pre-jet engine aviation.

This commission was for the design of  a monument in its entirety, from the concept stage through site analysis, detailed design, planning submissions, through to transfer of design to the construction stage and delivery of the fully-wrought finished product.
